This class will cover the first basic steps of wheel-thrown ceramics. Students will learn to center the clay on the wheel, form the bottom of the vessel and then begin creating simple cylinder forms. Students will also learn to trim their pots on the wheel and glaze their pieces. Intermediate students can brush up on their skills and will choose specific projects to work in a series, improving craftsmanship and to creating more complex forms. Carving techniques and slip trailing/decoration will also be demonstrated and incorporated into the class for those who are interested.
