This easy walking tour highlights the historic buildings and development of downtown Steamboat Springs and unveils the stories of the town’s founding and early settlers. Participants travel past and learn about the original town square, power plant, newspaper building, courthouse, and more.
After the tour, enjoy half price admission to the Tread of Pioneers Museum and learn more about the fascinating history of the area in new exhibits. The museum is free every day for all Routt County residents.

The Mineral Springs Tour is led by an incredibly knowledgeable and passionate Yampatika Naturalist with a huge background in Geology. Join this program for a walking tour of the downtown Mineral Springs to learn a bit about Steamboat history, the role the Springs played in that history, and the reason Steamboat has so many different springs in such close proximity!

This art and heritage nature walk combines a love of hiking, exploring, learning and being creatively inspired by Steamboat Springs’ natural beauty. On the Mad Creek hike, participants will be accompanied by a land artist, Camille DiTrani, who will enlighten them on using things found in nature and returned to nature to create unique creative experiences. As you hike Mad Creek, learn about the area’s rich history with Executive Director of the Tread of Pioneers Museum, Candice Bannister. Learn about the Mad Creek Barn, see the remains of guest ranch cabins along the creek, and learn about homesteading families in the area.
