Emma Friedland at Riverwalk Collective Gallery – Steamboat Springs

Emma Friedland

The themes that tend to be a constant throughout most of Emma’s work are bold forms, colors, and a nod to the natural world. Her most commonly used medium is acrylic paint on canvas and found objects. Emma also enjoys creating illustrations with micron pens and art and design markers. This is a favorite method that she uses plein air to create atmospheric landscapes.

Currently residing in Steamboat Springs, Emma spends summers working in the Yampa River Botanic Park, where each season she is surrounded by the ephemeral beauty of flora. During the busy warm season Emma enjoys capturing the beauty of both her workplace and travels through drawing and illustrating with ink pens and design markers, a skill she can attribute to her time spent in landscape architecture firms. In the winter Emma enjoys a calmer schedule that allows her to engage in larger painting projects as well as diving into new learning opportunities.
