Steamboat Creates has three gallery spaces at The Depot Arts Center: the Main Gallery, Platform Gallery, and Bliss Hall. The exhibits change out on a monthly basis, with opening receptions during First Friday Artwalk. Riverwalk Collective has a group show in the Main Gallery every month except October, November, and December.
January 2025. Nan Hill- Wild Landscapes and Caleb Thomas- Words of Light. Bliss Hall.
We start the new year featuring two talented artists: Nan Hill and Caleb Thomas.
Nan Hill’s art reflects a deep connection with nature, transforming landscapes into imaginative works that evoke the spirit of the environments that have shaped her. Her pieces explore the intricate relationship between the natural world and human perception.
Caleb Thomas, AKA Esku, fuses long-exposure photography with light painting, using his fascination with letters and the power of words to create visually striking narratives. His art merges text with landscapes, crafting compelling stories that resonate with both the mind and the eye. Together, their work highlights the intersection of imagination, environment, and personal expression.
February 2025. Elements of Adventure Member Show. Main Gallery.
Elements of Adventure is a February exhibition celebrating the adventurous spirit of Steamboat Springs. Inspired by snow-covered landscapes and the raw energy of exploration, this show invites Steamboat Creates member artists to interpret adventure in its purest form—through the elements of wind, water, mountains, and stars. A thrilling exploration of nature and the human spirit, this show coincides with the annual Winter Carnival celebration in February.
February 2025. Emma Friedland – Act Two. Platform Gallery.
Act Two isn’t just about mending clothing—it’s about rethinking waste, reconnecting with creativity, and finding beauty in imperfection. Visitors will explore a collection of up-cycled clothing that celebrates the intersection of art, mindfulness, and sustainability. In this exhibit’s focus on visible mending, Steamboat local and Riverwalk Collective Artist Emma Friedland transforms damaged or forgotten clothing into one-of-a-kind creations that merge sustainability, craftsmanship, and artistry. Her work invites viewers to ask, “How can I look at my outdated or damaged items with new eyes?”
March 2025. Nell Potasznik – Toxic Blooms. Bliss Hall.
Exploring the intersection of art, ecology, and economics through a series of hand-painted and embroidered burlap works inspired by Gilles Clément’s Jardin en Mouvement. The exhibition will showcase the potential of repurposing industrial coffee bean bags, highlighting humanity’s impact on the environment and the importance of sustainable practices.
March 2025. Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition – Crane-Inspired Creative Arts Scholarship Contest. Platform Gallery.
Visual and written art submitted by seniors in Routt and Moffat Counties as part of the Creative Arts Scholarship Contest. The work is inspired by and must accurately reflect our Rocky Mountain Greater Sandhill Cranes. Winners of this contest get a scholarship for continuing education.
June 2025. Kevin Kromer- Celestial Currents: Capturing Motion and Mood Movement. Bliss Hall.
Kevin Kromer’s work focuses on the beauty of the night sky and the art of capturing moments in time. Through his photography, he highlights the vastness of the universe and the natural beauty that surrounds us. His passion for photographing the Milky Way has driven his creative journey, and this collection showcases his progress and development as a photographer.

Garret Bock’s art explores the weird and wonderful, bringing to life a fascinating mix of robots, wizards, monsters, cowboys, and all things strange. August 2025. South Routt Collective – Get Out of Town. Bliss Hall.
It’s time to “Get Out of Town” and journey to the rural side of Routt County through the captivating works of Misty Brever, Andrea Abrahamson, and Jane Sindell. Using a variety of mediums, including oils, acrylics, pastels, photography, and mixed media, these talented artists invite viewers to immerse themselves in the lush countryside. Experience the beauty of serene lakes and rivers, vibrant flora and fauna, and the daily lives of hardworking ranchers. This collection offers a glimpse into the peaceful rhythms of life beyond the bustle of city life.
October 2025. Denise Bohart Brown- Messages. Bliss Hall.
Denise Bohart Brown’s upcoming exhibit delves into the concept of messages—bits of information we encounter daily and choose to believe, reject, embrace, or question. Through abstract kiln-formed glass creations, Brown explores the multitude of messages we receive from culture, social media, friends, family, and even ourselves. The exhibit also features figurative art inspired by drawings created during Steamboat Creates figure drawing sessions, offering a dynamic and thought-provoking perspective on communication and interpretation.
