The Arnold Barn, build in 1928, was surrounded by lush fields of hay and grain. For more than 30 years Walter Arnold, his wife, and their three sons raised Holstein milk cows, sheep, pigs, and over 500 chickens. In 1961, Storm Mountain Ski Corporation purchased the Arnold property to access the new ski area. No longer needed for agriculture, the Arnold Barn was used for ski storage and promotional photos. After changing hands several times in the early 2000s, the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation regained ownership of the barn in 2017 and stabilized the structure.
