The Fly Gulch School is typical of rural schools in Routt County. The school was established in 1917 approximately 10 miles northwest of Steamboat Springs near the junction of County Road 44A and County Road 44. The first Fly Gulch School was a log cabin and a “subscription school” where students paid tuition. The schoolhouse and teacherage were moved to this site in 1992 and recently restored.
