BookTrails Camps aim to foster a love of literacy and the outdoors. Each camp introduces a collection of stories, writing activities, art projects and basic outdoor skills focused around a common theme.

The Library challenges all kids and teens, ages 0-17, to read every day this summer to earn free books and prizes!
The Library challenges kids ages 0-17 to see if they can read or be read to every day from June 1 to July 31. Readers can create their own daily reading goal, with a minimum of 15 minutes each day. Log your reading on the paper brochure available at the Kids’ Desk or online using Beanstack. Make reading your favorite daily habit. Prizes from local sponsors. Other programs included in Summer reading programs: Free Family Fun, Read to Dogs, Walking book clubs, Reading Incentive, Junior Storytellers mini camp and performance. Teddy Bear picnic and three Storytimes in the Garden at Yampa River Botanical Park.

Make Studio Outdoor Art Camp!

Our summer program is inspired by the outdoor studio – all of our camps are help primarily outside. Each morning we meet in the studio, then walk outside to one of our nearby parks to work on projects in an outdoor studio setting. We provide all materials and tools for fun art-making in painting, drawing, printmaking, fibers, sculpture, clay, performance art and more.

Steamboat Symphony Orchestra Summer Immersion
Age 12+ or Suzuki Book 2 and higher.
A week-long, half-day camp in Steamboat Springs with a focus on Chamber Ensembles and String Orchestra immersion for violin, viola, cello and double bass. You’ll be coached and conducted by Maestro Ernest Richardson while playing alongside lead strings instructors from the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra and strings faculty from collaborating organization Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory.

Tread of Pioneers Museum Youth Programming

The museum offers a variety of programs for children and adults. From curriculum based school tours, to History CO Take Out Kits, to open houses and hands-on programs at the historic Mesa Schoolhouse as well as Lulie’s Wildflowers and Watercolors at Yampa River Botanic Park, the museum’s youth programs are offered in the schools, at the museum and throughout the community.
