Since 2008, The Great American Laughing Stock Company has introduced thousands of locals and visitors to free, hour-long live performances that are immersed in a beautiful and often marvelously unpredictable outdoor environment. It’s called the Piknik Theatre Festival and it’s all about bringing a blanket, snacks and beverages into a magical outdoor Steamboat location to enjoy a professional quality theatrical production. The Piknik Theatre Festival also has introduced hundreds of young adults (ages 12-18) into the magic of theatre and the performing arts during the weeklong workshop that is offered during the Festival. Visiting professional guest artists, who also conduct the workshops, team with local actors to learn, exchange, and create the interactive and distinctly human experience that is Piknik Theatre.
